Virtual TV Dinner "As technology further augments the natural with the artificial the more the "weaker" traits of the species will prevail, further perpetuating the reliance upon the artificial for increased productivity." Virtual TV Dinner is a single channel video installation. The video resides inside a rusted metal cage suspended from the ceiling by a frayed rope over a rusted pulley and tied to a rusted anchor mounted on the wall. Beneath the video cage is a mound of top soil with a weathered wooden trough filled with hog pellets and RAM (memory chips) and a wooden stool. The video montage consists of cross cuts of a CAT scan, a lobotomy, and various experiments on lab rats testing the memory structures of their brains. The viewer witnesses the destruction of natural memory and is encouraged to consume artificial memory. Bill Hill |
